Zombie = Human?

We often think that our technology bring us a more convenient life and more colorful experience, what if someone told you technology is actually threatening your life by turning you into a “ zombie “?Sounds interesting, right?

This week we had discussed a video “why do we love Zombies” by PBS digital studios in the lecture. (When I saw this title, the most suitable answer based not on my experience is perhaps people release their pressure by yell it out?) The first sentence at the beginning of the video is “the recent resurgence of zombie is because of the technique”, this gives a foreshadowing of not only technology creates the image of zombie but also reflect how the modern technology  turns human being in the way similar to zombie. The short video also touch on how we similar to zombie in the way of brainless insatiable hunger of consumerism or terrorism. But the most part that got my attention on is when he related zombie is actually another part of human.

The video explains that zombies are “ not necessary evil, they have no ill. They are just the victim of circumstance, they are hungry and super dumb” that is similar to human when the technology is actually emerge every minute in our daily life, all the internet, the email and mobile phone all the time. When you put yourself to the descriptions of zombie, it interestingly fits to us. Whenever we encounter something we don’t understand, we usually type on the question and seeks the answer from google device or Wikipedia. This could be another way to make us dumb because we don’t tend to think but rather we tend to search for answer. It also similar to the situation of typing which make us unable to write or spell the words. Another more vivid example is that when someone is walking while playing with his/her phone, do you think he/she is like a zombie that walks slowing, and brainlessly toward you?

Our life is about time. In fact, this can make us think that our obsession to  mobile phone, this little electrical that we held every single day actually eating/consuming our time and life isn’t it like zombie eating people? Is zombie symbolize our real life?
